French and Irish schools Together for the Environment - FIRST for E

Irish-French Project on Environmental Sustainability and Biodiversity. Raising awareness among junior secondary school students of the threats to biodiversity in the 21st century. Our role as stewards for a sustainable future for the planet. How is nature and biodiversity protected within the European Union? A collaborative project between Oaklands Community College, Edenderry, Co Offaly and Collège Chateaucoin, Baugé-en-Anjou, to facilitate virtual exchanges between junior secondary school students on the following themes of: Environmental sustainability Protection of the environment How the E.U. protects nature and biodiversity in the present day Schools in Ireland and France are involved in the protection of the environment through their respective green schools' committees. We do not yet know, however, what is done in our respective countries. The students involved in the project are 13 - 14 years old. We would like the students to discover what is done in each school regarding environmental sustainability and the preservation of biodiversity on a larger scale in the region. The goal is to exchange ideas on this topic to make students aware of this issue while, at the same time, encouraging and fostering real friendships. To do so, we will create and exchange various resources such as posters, letters, films about our schools and eventually visit each other to see the work in progress.
