Together for our health

Health education for preschoolers allows the learning of healthy behaviors and their integration into behavioral routines. In a broad sense, health education is represented by all learning experiences that lead to the improvement and maintenance of health. In a narrow sense, health education involves the development of cognitive, social and emotional skills with a protective role on health and the development of a healthy lifestyle by strengthening healthy behaviors and reducing risky behaviors. At preschool age, children learn behaviors by observing and imitating adults, they form their attitudes towards healthy and risky behaviors. At this age, the representation of the state of health and illness is also formed. Parents and adults who interact directly with children have a major role in the development of healthy behaviors with a protective role on health. Adults influence the behaviors adopted by children through the model they represent. Also, they are the main providers of leisure opportunities and food diversity. Parents and the preschool teachers are the ones who outline children's preferences and their attitudes towards eating behavior and physical exercise, through the reinforcements and aversive reactions they express. The right to be healthy is one of the fundamental humans right. According to the World Health Organization, individual health is defined as "a state of physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity". The phrase "Healthy mind in a healthy body" emphasizes the fact that we must teach our pupils how to take care of their body, how to protect it from harmful external factors, how to keep it healthy, clean and young. These activities are vital because only a healthy body can support and fuel future efforts and successes and they are necessary because good and healthy habits are learned from an early age. Hygiene must become a second nature for children because this is a condition of health and it cannot be forgotten, not even for a short time. Maintaining health involves both a healthy diet, physical activity, and methods of preventing diseases caused by food additives. It is important that health education is carried out starting at a very young age because the child is more receptive to such information, very useful in his growth and development, in this stage of his life habits are acquired that are relevant for later activities.
