#eTwForCulture: the 'Globe' of Shakespeare

Starting from the etymology of the word 'Globe' and by analyzing his plays, in this PBL the students will try to understand Shakespeare's world: the social and historical background as well as the Culture and Philosophy of the English Renaissance, comparing it to the Renaissance in other countries through the description of some paintings or building of the time and using a CLIL approach. Furthermore, the students will focus on Scenography and Architecture, trying to recreate Shakespeare's theatre, 'the Globe', and providing it with a Scenography or some costumes suitable for the Bard’s plays. So, they will cooperate and interact in groups or in pairs, doing different kinds of activity in order to keep in touch with Shakespeare’s world: performing scenes from his plays, drawing, designing and making both a scale model or a 3D model of ‘the Globe’, describing and comparing the theatres of that time to the modern ones.
