SYSPELL: An innovative approach to spelling

An Erasmus+ project that offers primary and secondary school teachers an innovative system for teaching spelling and improving their pupils' spelling skills.

SYSPELL, which stands for ‘Systematic and Computer Assisted Written Language Acquisition’, was designed for use in German and English classes. The system provides a range of dictation exercises and teaching materials for these languages.

The approach to learning starts simple and becomes progressively more complex. It encourages learners to work systematically, inviting them to carefully examine linguistic features and compare and discover similarities and differences. Learners are motivated to categorise and develop a fundamental awareness of language and spelling.

Resources and tools for the classroom

Teachers can use the system for assessment, tracking pupil progress and receiving comprehensive performance analyses. This gives teachers a data-driven overview of individual and class performance, to understand learner progress and areas needing improvement.
