Description

General English Courses are available at all levels and are designed to meet the needs of learners in a variety of English language settings. It focuses on developing communication skills and incorporating a variety of activities to best meet different learning styles and needs. Learners will also develop their speaking and listening skills to communicate on familiar and general topics and will be able to read and write short texts on everyday subject. General English course syllabus is 15 hours per week.

Each week our students practice speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in a warm and friendly environment. The lessons start with clear weekly goals. Over the course of each class, the language used to deliver the content is graded to match the students’ ability, providing a linguistic and grammatical challenge for the students. The approach takes a basis in CLIL (content and language integrated learning) whilst also focusing on the Communicative Method to encourage language production and use.

Typically, on the first day of class there is an Introduction and a level assessment through interactive speaking activities (warmers, ice breakers etc).  We focus on practical classroom activities which can be adapted and utilized by teachers of both languages and other topics, discussion and sharing resources such as: soundboards / phoneme work / drilling / speaking and writing games / mining pictures for vocabulary / lexical trees etc. The aim is to provide students with a range of classroom activities related to language teaching, and to generate discussion and critique of each activity to foster language use related to the topic. We also include in a brief history of English language and an overview of foreign Language learning methodologies used for English.

The overall aims of the course are : to enable the learner to communicate effectively and appropriately in real life situation , to develop and integrate the use of the four language skills i.e. Reading, Lis

Learning objectives

Learning objectives define learning outcomes and focus teaching.

The desirable outcome we wish to achieve during the class activities are several. The more important of them is to improve the overall language skills of the participants through the consolidation of the participant's skills in competencies and assessment based on common tests and rubrics. This outcome will be obtain though the following objectives:

-              Improving linguistic-communicative skills in the target foreign language

-              achieve language skills suitable for the management of disciplinary materials in a foreign language;

-              acquire mastery of the micro-language (vocabulary, discursive types, textual genres, etc.) and the ability to deal with notions and concepts in a foreign language.

As important as the abovementioned objective, we also wish to support the improvement of students' school results and to involve other secondary schools of local grade in the process of innovation and internationalization. This will be obtain through the exchange of good practices and possible project ideas with foreign colleagues, opening up new channels of European cooperation and collaboration.

Methodology & assessment

After the mobility activity, the participant’s learning outcomes will be assessed using different tools.
The key figures in the evaluation process are: tutor of the Institute that will have the task of guiding the participants throughout the process; hosting tutor, who will monitor the results of the training and will follow the activities of the participants.
The mobility path will be evaluated thanks to the collaboration of the participants. At the end of the first and second week of mobility, participants will compile tests useful to make an assessment of the progress of mobility and to evaluate the skills learned during the job shadowing. Participants will be supported by an on-site Tutor who will monitor the activities and evaluate the purchases thanks to the Job Shadowing.
The evaluation criteria to be included in the monitoring documents will cover aspects such as: coherence of training plans; effectiveness of the activities carried out; efficiency by the tutors; impacts on the participant’s skills. The project tutors will follow the progress of the participants along the path of competence acquisition.
The internal tutor and the foreign tutor will collaborate constantly before, during and after the mobility. This will be possible thanks to the use of digital platforms such as Google Meet, google drive etc.
The strengthening and acquisition of skills will be evaluated by the School Director, verifying the skills acquired, through the acknowledgment of the product monitoring questionnaires, the participant reports, and the certificates provided
