We are a non public secondary school No Bell Liceum Ogólnokształcące located in Konstancin-Jeziorna, Poland. We pass on knowledge, but also prepare pupils to take responsibility for themselves and the world around. They organise and participate in social and charity work, are encouraged to join after-school public actions. We give pupils self-agency. They can decide on many school issues (e.g. influence the order of learning). We have a system for older students to help younger ones learn.
Teachers adjust topics to current situation and events in Poland and the world. We believe young persons are shaped by everything around: relations, space, teaching and learning methods, their immediate and indirect surroundings, the natural environment.
We approach pupils individually, several psychologists support students’ mental well-being (individual meetings, mindfulness groupwork, etc.) Teachers are available, approach students with respect, support expressing individual opinions.
Our motto: ‘Everyone’s different, each – important.’
Working outside traditional education, we constantly learn, following most recent scientific findings, incorporating neurobiology-based innovations into our curricula. We are known and given as an example of an alternative school in the educational environment. There is no bell to call pupils to the classroom, pupils making themselves responsible for coming on time. We do not use handbooks. The lesson is prepared by the teacher.
