CONTENT AND LANGUAGE INTEGRATED LEARNING 5 DAYS IN LARISSA

This course is aimed at teachers and all those who want to improve their fluency in English as well as refresh their methodology. The course will focus on a blend of lecture format and practical activities based on CLIL methodology to enhance the acquisition of English as a foreign language. OID in Greece: E10049405.

Description

The course consists of 25 didactic hours and includes the following modules:

  • Introduction of participants, outline of the programme, warm ups and ice breakers
  • Introduction to key concepts, definitions and types of CLIL
  • Integrating language skills and developing content, communicative, cognitive and cultural skills; choosing contexts
  • Structuring a CLIL lesson, key features; simulation
  • Individual support
  • Presentation of outcomes, discussion, evaluation and closing session

There is also an organized cultural excursion to Meteora and teambuilding and networking activities in Mount Olympus or on one of the beaches of Larissa.

Learning objectives

  • Familiarizing with key concepts and issues in CLIL methodology.
  • Improving the participants’ oral and written skills in English.
  • Developing and/or improving skills in teaching target school subjects or parts through English.
  • Understanding the theoretical principles of CLIL.
  • Developing communication, collaboration, presentation, problem solving, negotiation, critical and creative thinking skills.
  • Boosting participants’ confidence in communication in English.
  • Enhancing understanding of the potential CLIL methodology has in education and how it can be used to enhance acquisition of a foreign language.
  • Enhancing professional skills through mastering tools for virtual communication and collaboration.
  • Providing and exercising creative ideas and practical resources for successful implementation of CLIL in teaching several school subjects with English as a target language.
  • Improving English fluency (official language of the course).
  • Promoting intercultural awareness.

Methodology & assessment

We strive to deliver high quality training courses on trending topics in European and global education while considering individual needs of our participants and their schools. Our inspiring trainers are experts in their fields and have international experience in education from almost all EU countries and beyond. Our methodology is based on theoretical input, presentations of examples of good practice as well as demonstrations and experience comparisons and in the most part practical learning by doing approach. Participants will have the opportunity to get to know the theoretical background as well as go through a series of practical exercises and project tasks which will be tried out and reflected upon and evaluated by participants themselves, the trainer and the group throughout the course. After the course, learning outcomes will be recorded on the Europass Mobility Document (if requested by the participants).

Materials, digital tools & other learning resources

All the materials will be made available to the participants in digital form upon completion of the course.

Certification details

Certificate complies with the guidelines of the Erasmus+ programme and includes the topic, number of didactic hours, dates and location of the course. We can list the record of learning outcomes on the Europass Mobility Document on request of participants. In case. A participant requires a specific format of certificate we can accommodate that if requested at least one week before the start of the course. It is necessary to attend at least 80% of the hours in order to receive the certificate.

  • Course package content:

    The course fee includes tuition and materials for the course and all administrative work. There is also one cultural activity for networking and socialising covered by the course fee.  

    Accommodation, meals and transportation are not included and participants are expected to organize and cover for these expenses by themselves. 

    We do not charge anything extra apart from the 400 EUR course fee.

  • Cancellation & changes:

    Free cancellation up to 30 days before the start. After that, the reservation is not refundable. Changes in name and profile of the participant are possible any time before the start of the course. In case of extraordinary circumstances, we will offer a free re-scheduling to be used within 6 months.

  • Additional information:
    The options and conditions for change and cancellation, and the policy in case of unforeseen circumstances (force majeure).
