Day 2- 25th of April: Connection of Lithuanian History and Art at the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania
On the second day of mobilities that was highlighted as "Connections of Lithuanian history and arts" we visited Grand Dukes Palace where we had a history and art CLILL lesson in a form of educational excursion called " The history and artful interiors in the Palace of Grand Dukes". The guide told us about Vilnius Palace of Grand Dukes and we saw a small model of this Palace. We saw some wooden, metal, ceramic tools, dishes. We heard about genealogy of Lithuania's rulers and their family ties with European monarchs. We also saw a lot of jewelry such as rings and crowns with gems, chainlets, brooches. Then we went to work craft called "All that glitters is not gold". We made our own necklaces or bracelets out of cord, vax, copper, seashells and glass marballs. All they were made following the ancient historical examples. Then we got up to the hill of Gediminas castle. Some were going up with funicular, some were climbing. Then the tour guide told us about Gediminas castle history, we enjoyed wonderful panorama of the city. Then acquaintance with city's different styles of architecture started. We visited Vilnius Cathedral and the last remaining St. Casimer chapel. And then we walked through Bernardinu garden to St. Ann's church. All of us were fascinated by baroque churches and rich architecture of Vilnius.
Here our students present the map of architectural objects we visited during mobility in Vilnius.
