GrowinGreen

The main goal of this project is to extend learning beyond the classroom by linking our ecological school gardens to the curriculum to make learning more meaningful and accessible to all students regardless of their background, talents, or language proficiency. The school garden is the perfect tool to provide real life learning experiences within different academic subjects. We will use the garden as a laboratory to introduce students to scientific methods through plant-related experiments. In addition, in the garden we will study life in ecosystems, mathematics, languages, literature and visual and performing arts. The school garden offers the opportunity for making learning more relevant to students’ lives inspiring active exploration, communication, creativity, teamwork and problem solving. These experiences can help improve students’ motivation, key competences, self-esteem, a healthy lifestyle and attitude towards our environment.
