Surveys: Use and Consumption of Clothing. PAST and PRESENT
The activity aims at investigating how the use and consumption of clothing has changed in 50 years in France, in Italy, but also in Greece and Turkey, our partners in other projects.
In history we have never had such a "fast" time even in buying and using clothes, increasing the problems both of finding raw materials and of disposing of textile waste.
Students interviewed elderly women (who remember the times of their youth) and teenage girls. The survey is intended for women in both cases to make the sample more homogeneous and because traditionally women were the ones who took care of the garments.

On the basis of the results of these surveys it is possible to understand how society has changed over the years and how nowadays it is much more based on consumerism than many years ago.
Now we no longer buy out of necessity, we buy more out of the need to have.
From what emerged from the questionnaires administered to teenagers and elderly women in our countries, we can deduce that there are no substantial geographical differences, there are rather substantial generational differences.

Let's look at what is happening in the world, climate change is causing huge tragedies.
Let's learn the great lesson that nature is giving us, let's rethink fashion and our lives in a slow and sustainable way.
