Astro Partyyyyyyyyyyyy
A group of Bulgarian Erasmus team students took part in an astro party organized by Evrika Founndation and carried out at a school in Varshets, Bulgarian. Proven names in science like Associate Professor Vladimir Bozhilov from St. Kliment Ohridski State University in Sofia, Dr. Georgi Latyev from Bulgarian Science Academy, the director of the Observatory in Dimitrovgrad were lecturers at the event and introduced the students to the new worlds of space, time measurement in astronomy, etc. It was curious for the participants to learn firsthand about a real Bulgarian discovery, to see pictures of a star 1,000 light-years from Earth, showing us what the star looked like in the time of Tsar Ivan Alexander. The practical assignment given by Mr. Ivo Jokin, Director of the Centre for Extracurricular Activities in the village of Gorica, was extremely entertaining and informative. Baikal: The children hand-drawn a quadrant to determine the latitude at which they are located. After nightfall, telescope observations led the students to the craters of the moon. The lecturers told their young friends about the Pleiades, Mars, Jupiter, and other curious objects in the starry sky.
