ART PORTRAITS

We call the reproduction of a person's features a "portrait", but the basic idea is that the reproduction does not have to be mechanically faithful: otherwise we would consider the images that mirrors or passport photos taken by cameras send us as the best possible portraits. A portrait captures the subject's features and traits of his soul, captured by the painter or photographer, and all the magic of portraits is expressed precisely in the gazes of the subject captured by the author and by us observers of the work. The idea of the "Authors Portraits" project starts from understanding what a portrait is: A portrait is first and foremost an observation. The aim of this project is to bring our students closer to realistic drawing, guiding them to the ability and how it can be achieved while acquiring simple drawing techniques. Our students will be introduced to the portraits of Van Gogh, Gaugin, Picasso, Salvador Dali, Frida Kahlo, up to the pop art of Andy Warlhol. Finally, the course will introduce the students to the execution of a self-portrait in the style of Julian Opie, the English artist who creates his portraits with a few simplified lines, with a clear and well-traced outline that makes the portraits seem all the same, suspended between pop art, comics and advertising graphics, yet all the self-portraits are very expressive, unique and recognisable. The path allows you to familiarize yourself with art, to stimulate the imagination, to work on the codes of images through a teaching of doing
