Event information
Description
Register your school between 2 September and 14 October to have a chance of being selected to participate in this popular competition – and your students could win a trip to Brussels to explore translation at the EU.
Every year, around 3,000 students across the European Union translate a one-page text from and into any of the 24 official EU languages. The competition aims to promote language learning and translation, and to inspire young linguists. Language learning gives young people communication skills in multiple languages, opening up job opportunities at home and abroad. Especially in the digital age, the ability to communicate with and understand one another, regardless of our differences, continues to be essential for the EU to flourish.
The Commission's own translators will mark the entries and select one winner for each EU country. The 27 winners will be invited to Brussels next spring for an awards ceremony at the Commission's headquarters, with one teacher and up to two parents.
