This course is aimed at teachers and all those who want to improve their digital competences and learn how they can use technology to enhance learning. The coruse will focus on theoretical background and practical use of digital storytelling and building naratives as well as creating teaching and learning resources through media production. Description

The course consists of 35 didactic hours and includes the following moduels:

Introduction of participants, outline of the programme, warm ups and ice breakers
Introduction to storytelling and narrative building as a teaching and learning style
Practical workshop on digital storytelling and narrative building
Practical workshop in video production and editing
Capturing footage in the targeted places of interest
Building narratives through social media
Content management and curation tools
Online tools for collaboration in storytelling and media production projects, eTwinning
Individual support
Cultural exchange
Teambuilding and networking activities with a city tour or a cultural trip
Presentation of outcomes, discussion, evaluation and closing session

Learning objectives

Understanding of the role and shapes of media in education of the 21st century.
Improving the participants’ digital competences.
Understanding how technology and media can enhance learning.
Understanding of storytelling and narrative building as teaching and learning style.
Developing communication, collaboration, presentation, problem solving, negotiation, critical and creative thinking skills.
Improving video capturing, editing and media production skills.
Enhancing understanding of the potential storytelling and narrative building have in use of technology and media in education and opportunities they provide.
Enhancing professional skills through mastering tools for virtual communication and collaboration.
Providing and exercising creative ideas and practical resources for successful implementation of digital storytelling, video editing and media production in education.
Improving English fluency (official language of the course).
Promoting intercultural awareness.

Methodology & assessment

Methodology is based on theoretical lessons and presentations of examples of good practice as well as discussions and experience comparisons. Participants will have the opportunity to get to know the theoretical background as well as go through a series of practical exercises in order to develop skills for use of video editing and production software and various free online content management tools. A strong focus will be on a systematic curation of content and form through building narratives. Assessment is carried out by the course trainer on a day to day basis and the learning outcomes are recorded on the Europass Mobility Document on request.

Materials, digital tools & other learning resources

All the materials will be made available to the participants in digital form upon completion of the course.

Certification details

Certificate complies with the guidelines of the Erasmus+ programme and includes the topic, number of didactic hours, dates and location of the course. We can list the record of learning outcomes on the Europass Mobility Document on request of participants. In case. aparticipant requires a speciffic format of certificate we can accommodation that if requested at least one week before the start of the course.

The course fee includes tution and materials for the course. Accommodation, meals and transportation are not included and participants are expected to organize and cover for these expenses by themselves.
