The Use of digital tools in Language Teaching (L2)
This course is an innovative offer with the aim of revolutionising your own language teaching through the use of digital tools. In the course, all participants gain a profound insight into various digital platforms, apps and AI tools and their use in the classroom. Theoretical phases are flanked by practical exercises, hands-on practice and classroom observations.
Description
Digital teaching and learning has been gaining momentum in recent years and has become an integral part of a teacher's teaching activities. The "Digital Teaching" training course is designed to give teachers an overview of how software and apps can be used effectively in language lessons and the added value of working in classes where all pupils have their own tablet. After short theoretical input phases, the focus will be on practice. Participating teachers will have the opportunity to try out various digital programmes and evaluate them for themselves. In addition to the opportunities offered by digital lesson design, the risks and limitations will also be discussed in a final reflection phase. Furthermore, interested teachers will also be provided with guidelines on how to organise a digital classroom.
The training programme consists of five modules:
- Module 1: Software and apps in language teaching
- Module 2: Teaching in a 1:1 setting/ BYOD
- Module 3: Artificial intelligence in the classroom
- Module 4: Virtual reality
- Module 5: Opportunities and limitations of digital teaching
The training programme takes place at Freiham Grammar School in the west of Munich. The school is built according to the learning house concept and has very modern equipment. Pupils already have access to laptops in lessons from year 5 and from year 9 they can use their own tablet in lessons.
