What is the European Climate Pact?

The European Climate Pact is a movement of people united around a common cause: building a more sustainable Europe. Launched by the European Commission, this initiative provides concrete tools and resources for citizen engagement and community participation in climate action. It offers a range of activities and resources that can be easily integrated into the classroom, making it a great tool for teachers to educate their students about climate change and sustainability.

How does it work?

Teachers can register their activities and share their results with the European Climate Pact. Selected projects may even be invited to present at local, national, and EU events, highlighting the contributions of young people and schools to climate solutions.

Resources and tools for the classroom

The European Climate Pact offers a range of resources and tools that can easily be integrated in the classroom, including:

  • Climate games: Fun, interactive activities that can be tailored to different group sizes and ages. For example, the European Commission has developed a climate action board game for children aged 9-12.
  • Photo Story: Resources to help facilitate a workshop where participants use photography to capture their experiences and perspectives on climate-related issues, discuss the situation, and present solutions.
  • Peer Parliament: A toolkit with facilitation guide and learning materials that fosters discussions on transitioning to climate neutrality in daily life. Topics include mobility, energy, food, and consumption.
