Description

Located in the picturesque Algarve region, this 30-hour course offers a deep dive into the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) framework. The program is structured to provide participants with a practical and experiential understanding of the five areas of competence outlined in the CASEL Wheel. By engaging in hands-on activities and discussions, participants will gain insights into fostering self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and decision-making skills.

                  Day 1 Monday:

  • Course and participants introduction
  • Ice-break group dynamics

  • Knowing CASEL Framework

Day 2 Tuesday:

  • The 5 areas of competences in the CASEL Model
  • Self-awareness competences development strategies

Day 3 Wednesday:

  • Self-management competences development strategies
  • Social Awareness competences development strategies

Day 4 Thursday:

  • Relationship Skills competences development strategies
  • Responsible Decision-Making competencies development strategies

Day 5 Friday:

  • Designing a SEL intervention for your school
  • Course evaluation from participants – acquired competences, feedback, and discussion
  • Awarding Certificate of Attendance

Day 6 Saturday:

  • Well-being and nature
  • The transmission of the natural heritage - Ria Formosa (Boat tour)

 

Learning objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will:

  • Understand the CASEL integrated framework.
  • Experience an SEL environment firsthand.
  • Enhance self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and decision-making skills.
  • Develop strategies for implementing social-emotional learning in a tailor-made program, ensuring participants can continue cultivating a culture of SEL in their respective schools.

Methodology & assessment
