Description

This student-centered classroom course is designed to help teachers create a more engaging and supportive learning environment that promotes positive attitudes and participation from all students. Through a range of interactive activities, discussions and practical exercises, participants will develop their understanding of motivation, differentiation, and feedback strategies to encourage and motivate students. They will also explore game-based learning, storytelling techniques, and task-based activities that promote active learning and build effective relationships with students. By the end of the course, participants will have the skills and knowledge to adapt these ideas and strategies to their own professional context to create a more student-centered learning experience.

Learning objectives

  • Develop an understanding of the importance of motivation and its impact on student learning.
  • Identify and use a range of engaging activities to promote positive attitudes towards learning and participation in the classroom.
  • Develop strategies for managing mixed ability classrooms that are inclusive and supportive for all students.
  • Explore game-based learning, storytelling techniques, and task-based activities that promote positive attitudes and engagement in the classroom.
  • Develop skills in using ICT tools and flipped classroom approaches to enhance student-centered learning.
  • Build rapport and develop strategies for dealing with difficult behavior in a positive and supportive way.
  • Identify and distinguish between extrinsic and intrinsic motivation and use appropriate strategies to encourage and motivate students to participate during class.
  • Develop effective feedback strategies to provide students with clear and constructive feedback that supports their learning and progress.
  • Engage in discussions and exchanges of experiences with other participants to broaden understanding and knowledge of student-centered approaches.
  • Apply and adapt the ideas and strategies learned in the course to their own professional context to create a more student-centered classroom environment.

Methodology & assessment

This Student-centered Classroom course is designed to be highly interactive, providing participants with a variety of hands-on and practical learning experiences. Throughout the course, participants will engage in a range of interactive learning activities, including group discussions, role-playing exercises, case studies, and practical projects, designed to reinforce the practical application of concepts and ideas covered in the course.

Our experienced instructors will provide personalized guidance and support to help participants develop the skills and confidence to use the strategies and techniques covered in the course effectively. With a focus on practical application and real-world scenarios, participants will be able to immediately apply what they learn in their own classrooms.

The course will be structured around a variety of teaching methods and approaches, including lectures, small group work, reflective exercises, and peer-to-peer learning. Our instructors will also make use of multimedia tools and technologies to enhance learning and engagement.

Participants will have access to a range of resources, including instructional materials, online support tools, and professional development opportunities, to help them further develop their skills and knowledge in classroom management and teaching practices.
