ROBOTICS AND CODING AND HOW TO DEVELOP COMPETENCES 5 DAYS IN SANTORINI

Computing is a creative human activity that engenders innovation and promotes exploration among students. It can change the way children think, what they learn, and how they interact with peers and adults. This course is aimed at all who want to improve their digital competences and learn how they can use robots: Arduino, Micro:bit, Blue-bot as innovative tools for education. OID: E10049405.

Description

The course consists of 25 didactic hours and includes the following modules:

  • Introduction of participants, warm-ups and ice breakers, outline of the programme
  • Introduction to robotics and coding principles and basic coding concepts
  • Programming with Blue-Bot® Bluetooth  Programmable Floor Robot
  • Programming with Makey Makey
  • Programming with BBC micro:bit
  • Programming with Arduino
  • Robotics and embedded systems and environments
  • Use of robots with students with disabilities
  • Coding in Classroom
  • Apps for Teaching Coding Skills
  • Tools enabling students/teachers to create artefacts representing what they are learning
  • Developing innovative resources for use of robotics and coding in classroom (various subjects)
  • Robotics in eTwinning projects
  • Individual support
  • Presentation of outcomes, discussion, evaluation and closing session

There is also an organized island tour with a bus and a licenced tour guide to discover the cultural significance and natural beauties of Santorini and network with colleagues.

Learning objectives

  • Developing critical thinking, creativity and innovation using information and communication technology.

  • Discovering and experiencing working with robots: Arduino, Micro:bit, Blue-bot.

  • Ability to plan,design and implement innovative and fun tools for education.
  • Improving English fluency (official language of the course).

  • Sharing experiences using robotics and coding in education from different perpectives in order to help each of us to be more effective in our work.

Methodology & assessment

Methodology is based on practical/theory lessons and showcasing of examples of good practice as well as discussions and experience comparissons. Participants will learn about robotics and coding through workshops, sessions and action learning. Some other tools used will consist of project work, training, lectures, presentations, reflection and evaluation. Assessment is carried out by the course trainer on a day to day basis and the learning outcomes are recorded on the Europass Mobility Document on request.

Materials, digital tools & other learning resources

All the materials will be made available to the participants in digital form upon completion of the course.

Certification details

Certificate complies with the guidelines of the Erasmus+ programme and includes the topic, number of didactic hours, dates and location of the course. We can list the record of learning outcomes on the Europass Mobility Document on request of participants. In case. A participant requires a specific format of certificate we can accommodate that if requested at least one week before the start of the course. It is necessary to attend at least 80% of the hours in order to receive the certificate.

  • Course package content:

    The course fee includes tuition and materials for the course and all administrative work. There is also one cultural activity for networking and socialising covered by the course fee.  

    Accommodation, meals and transportation are not included and participants are expected to organize and cover for these expenses by themselves. 

    We do not charge anything extra apart from the 400 EUR course fee.

  • Cancellation & changes:

    Free cancellation up to 30 days before the start. After that, the reservation is not refundable. Changes in name and profile of the participant are possible any time before the start of the course. In case of extraordinary circumstances, we will offer a free re-scheduling to be used within 6 months.

    The options and conditions for change and cancellation, and the policy in case of unforeseen circumstances (force majeure).
