PUPPETS AND MASKS IN EDUCATION 10 DAYS
This course is aimed at teachers and all those who want to learn about the creation and use of puppets and masks for mediation and expression facilitation. The coruse will focus on technical and practical aspects of creating masks and puppets and on theoretical and functional aspects of the use of puppets and masks in mediation, special needs education, integration, creative thinking & expression.
Description
The course consists of 50 didactic hours and includes the following moduels:
- Introduction of participants, outline of the programme, warm ups and ice breakers
- Theoretical introduction to the use of puppets and masks in education
- Practical workshop on creating and animating finger puppets and hand puppets; finding a way to implement the use of these puppets in school
- Practical workshop on creating a personalized mask made out of cast, lesson and workshop on mediating properties of puppets and masks
- Practical workshop on creating a rod or a shadow puppet
- ractical workshop on creating a sponge mask
- Theoretical lesson and support in development of plans for use of puppets and masks in lessons in order to facilitate integration, creative thinking and expression
- Online tools for collaboration in educational projects based in use of puppets and masks, eTwinning
- Individual support
- Teambuilding and networking activities with a city tour or a cultural trip

Learning objectives
- Learning how to make a simple finger puppet, hand puppet, rod puppet and shadow puppet and animate them.
- Learning how to make a personalised mak out of cast and decorate it.
- Learning how to make a mask out of sponge.
- Understanding how puppets and masks can be used in work with pre-school, primary school and children with special needs in order to teach morals and values, reinforce good behavior, handle sensitive topics, stimulate immagination, encourage creative play and aid discovery, give instructions and guide learning.
- Learning how to use persona doll in education.
- Boosting participants’ confidence in use of puppets and masks.
- Enhancing professional skills through mastering tools for creating and using puppets and masks in their professional context.
- Providing and exercising creative ideas and practical resources for successful use of puppets and masks in education.
- Improving English fluency (official language of the course).
- Promoting intercultural awareness.

All the materials will be made available to the participants in digital form upon completion of the course.
Certification details
Certificate includes the topic, dates and location of the course. We can list the record of learning outcomes on the Europass Mobility Document on request of participants.
