The course offers new ways for teachers to promote STEM and screenless ICT activities in their classrooms. Come to experience interactive and hands-on approach, participants in the role of children. The course includes demonstration of activities at a local kindergarten.

The course offers new ways for teachers to promote STEM and screenless ICT activities in their classrooms. Come to experience interactive and hands-on approach. The participants, in the role of children, gain inspiration to build and create a technical world from a basic blueprint of a house (water and electric system) to simple a robot coding. The course includes demonstration of activities at a local kindergarten.
The aim of the course is to provide teachers new ideas how to introduce pre-school children (4-6 years) to the technical and digital world surrounding us. We aim to improve teachers’ STEM and computational thinking.
Learning objectives
Day 1: STEM WORKSHOP – LEARNING AND CONSTRUCTING
Introduction of participants, outline of the programme, warm ups.
Interactive workshop focuses on presenting best practice and inspiration for teachers to apply fun role-playing and educational STEM activities in their classrooms.
Themes include:
- a city builder to create a city and draw maps
- an architect to read blueprints
- an electrician to understand electricity diagrams
- a plumber to build water piping systems
- bridge building and binding bricks
- tower builders and the stability of towers, world-known towers
- water treatmentsystem, filters and filtrations
- different kinds of power plants and hands on learning about the electricity path to our homes
Organized historical walk through Prague in the afternoon.
Day 2: STEM – KINDERGARTEN VISIT
Spend the entire morning in a Czech kindergarten and observe the best practices focused on STEM topics. Get the chance to experience school life in a Czech kindergarten.
Day 3: SCREENLESS ICT WORKSHOP
Interactive workshop for teachers focused on presenting best practice and inspiration for fun and screenless ICT activities.
Themes include:
- games supporting development of computational and logical thinking
orientation on a map grid - solving basic problems by creative thinking and decision making
- algorithm and easy coding
- robots
Day 4: SCREENLESS ICT - KINDERGARTEN VISIT
Spend the entire morning in a Czech kindergarten and observe the methods focused on computational and logical thinking. Get the chance to experience school life in a Czech kindergarten.
Day 5: ROBOTIC TOYS AND WRAP UP OF THE WEEK
Learn how to implement the new knowledge and skills into your classroom. Share your ideas and experiences with other participants.
