Learning objectives
- To develop an understanding of the basic principles and practices of mindfulness, including its benefits for personal well-being and professional practice.
- To learn how to incorporate mindfulness practices into daily routines and classroom activities, and to develop strategies for supporting students in developing their own mindfulness practices.
- To give course participants the necessary skills or tools to implement mindfulness strategies in their own workplace
- To reduce stress and anxiety among students
- To explore the use of mindfulness-based interventions to support students’ social-emotional learning and mental health.
- To explore the potential of mindfulness practices for enhancing personal resilience, stress management, and self-care among teachers and educational staff.
- To build a professional network of colleagues from different countries, and to share best practices and ideas for incorporating mindfulness into educational contexts.
Methodology & assessment
The Erasmus+ Mindfulness in Education course utilizes an experiential, hands-on approach to provide participants with practical knowledge and skills related to mindfulness. The methodology includes:
- Interactive lectures and discussions to build foundational knowledge.
- Demonstrations of various mindfulness techniques and practices.
- Guided personal practice of mindfulness techniques.
- Small group discussions and sharing of experiences.
- Collaborative lesson planning activities.
- Self-reflection through journaling and other creative exercises.
- Peer review and feedback on teaching mindfulness.
- Customizable sessions to meet specific interests and needs.
- Provision of resources and community access for ongoing learning.
Assessment
Participant learning will be assessed through:
- Creation of personalized mindfulness lesson plans and activities.
- Individual and group presentations on implementing mindfulness.
- Self-reflection papers, blogs, or portfolios detailing key learnings.
- Peer feedback on lesson demonstrations and facilitation skills.
- Completion of knowledge assessments related to course content.
- Active participation in all sessions and mindfulness practices.
- Feedback survey on course quality, content, methodologies and results.
- Ongoing observation and feedback from tutor(s) on progress made.
