The course has been designed for primary and secondary school teachers who want to learn how to use school tennis as an active methodology to develop quality physical education, curriculum skills and values in students. It shows how to develop values, cross-curricular projects, sustainability and inclusion with a student-centred and collaborative teaching approach.
Description
The course is designed for primary and secondary school teachers who want to discover an approach to developing the physical education curriculum through school tennis, while also discovering the evidence that supports its effectiveness in achieving learning goals. It present the methodology and its curricular scope as a global process that develops the whole person in an active, reflective and meaningful way.
The course aims to provide participants with tools, ideas and best practices, as well as practical experience and first-hand knowledge of how to integrate school tennis into formal and non-formal education in schools.
The methodological proposal is based on dynamic sessions so that participants understand the process of teaching and learning school tennis in the real context of a session. Taking into account the importance of values such as inclusion, diversity and disability in developing students who can join society with a 360o view of the individual.

Learning objectives
Identify innovative and fun ways to develop the P.E. curriculum through teaching school tennis in physical education sessions.
Develop the ability to implement active and collaborative learning environments, incorporating the Students- centered and Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) approaches.
Manage large groups at school tennis sessions, creating an inclusive, engaging, and effective learning environment for all participants.
Acquire a consistent methodology for accommodating diverse needs, including students with disabilities.
Development of cross-curricular tennis projects that linking the physical education curriculum to broader educational goals.
Teach students about sustainable design principles and guide them through the process of creating eco-friendly tennis materials, including racquets and balls.
Lead outdoor activities to provide students with hands -on experience and areal- world context to better understand how tennis relates to everyday life.
Methodology & assessment
The format of the course is didactic, experiential and interactive with discussions as an introduction to the hands-on sessions.
We have a holistic view for the assessment, and we consider it as a part of the learning process of the participants. We are going to develop it in various ways along the course:
● Collaborative assessments and group projects encouraging teamwork and fostering a collaborative learning environment.
● Classroom observations, both peer and self-observations, provide valuable insights into teaching practices.
● Case studies and problem-solving scenarios assess teachers' ability to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world teaching challenges.
● Development of teacher portfolios, which serve as comprehensive records of achievements, reflections, and practical applications.

Materials and learning resources are provided to participate in the workshops and different course sessions.
Depending on the course, you may be required to bring your own laptop.
