Description

Media Literacy may be defined as the ability to access, analyse and evaluate the power of images, sounds and messages which we are now being confronted with a daily bases and are an important part of our contemporary culture, as well as to communicate competently in media available on a personal basis. Media literacy relates to all media, including television and film, radio and recorded music, print media, the Internet and other new digital communication technologies»
(European Community, 2009)
The advent of digital media is producing important transformations in people’s everyday life, both at the socio-cultural and psycho-cognitive level. We need to redefine the ways in which media have been usually used in schools and in educational contexts.
It’s necessary to improve technical skills and also generate critical-creative abilities. Teenagers can understand the social implications and functions of the media, and interact with them in a responsible way.
