Description

This Erasmus course aims to raise awareness among participants about the importance of environmental conservation by using Galicia's natural parks as spaces for active and interdisciplinary learning. By integrating modern board games, the course combines the study of biodiversity, the ecological history of the region, and the development of transversal skills such as critical thinking, cooperation, and problem-solving. Participants will engage in interactive activities that connect their experiences in these natural environments with the mechanics and themes of various board games, fostering a deeper understanding of both
environmental issues and game design principles.

This structured approach offers a comprehensive and immersive learning experience, blending the natural beauty of Galicia with the educational potential of board games. Let me know if you need further refinements or additions!

    through board games.
  • Interactive Learning: Create connections between the knowledge gained during visits to natural sites and the mechanics of board games.
  • Cultural Integration: Foster cultural exchange among participants by using board games from different origins.
  • Sustainable Development: Explore the relationship between urbanization and
environmental preservation in an urban context.

Methodology & assessment

DAY 1
- Field Activity: A guided tour of Vigo, focusing on the city's blend of urban development and natural beauty, including visits to parks and coastal areas that illustrate the balance between urbanization and environmental preservation.
- Board Game: "Suburbia" or "Between Two Cities," where participants explore the challenges and strategies involved in sustainable urban development. The game will allow participants to reflect on how urban planning impacts natural environments and the importance of green spaces in cities.

DAY 2
- Field Activity: A guided hike to explore the unique biodiversity of the islands and the importance of preserving marine ecosystems.
- Board Game: "Oceans" or "Biosphere," where participants simulate the creation and maintenance of marine ecosystems, learning about ecological interdependencies

DAY 3
- Field Activity: Visit to the Atlantic forest, one of the few remaining in Europe, studying the local flora and fauna, including the historic water mills of Folón and Picón.
- Board Game: "Wingspan," focusing on bird conservation, allowing participants to relate the species observed in the park to those in the game

DAY 4
- Field Activity: Study of the region's geology and natural archaeology, with visits to ancient Roman remains and mountainous landscapes around Baiona.
- Board Game: "Catan," exploring the sustainable use of natural resources and colonization dynamics in protected areas.

DAY 5
- Field Activity: Environmental education session focusing on the conservation of endemic species and the management of natural reserves in Tui.
- Board Game: "Paleo," a cooperative game that simulates survival in natural environments, leading to discussions on adaptation and preservation

DAY 6
- Learning Integration: A collaborative workshop where participants create prototypes of board games inspired by the visits. The goal is to consolidate the acquired knowledge and develop educational materials that can be used for environmental education.
