Description

This course gives teachers of English at Secondary level and in adult education the opportunity to discover 21st century Ireland and keep abreast of changes in Irish Life and Society and the Education System, to gain a variety of teaching ideas & stimulating materials which focus on Ireland Today and to exchange ideas and develop links with teachers from other countries.

Learning objectives

Participants will have the opportunity:

  • to expand their knowledge of Ireland and keep abreast of changes in Irish Life and Society and the Education System
  • to gain a variety of new teaching ideas & stimulating materials which focus on Ireland Today
  • to enhance their language skills
  • to exchange ideas and develop links with teachers from different European countries

Methodology & assessment

- Courses are delivered by education professionals with many years’ experience of teaching and training EU-funded teachers and a wealth of inspiring ideas to impart.
- Practical workshops are tailored to the participants’ training needs.
- There will be input on task-based learning for designing classroom activities, including project-based work.
- The use of popular films and documentaries will also be explored.
- Participants have the opportunity to develop professional connections and professional interchange with other European language teachers.
- At the end of the course teachers participate in a detailed evaluation of the course.

Materials, digital tools & other learning resources

  • Physical and digital materials will be provided.
  • This is a highly practical course so participants will also have the opportunity to design their own classroom materials on life in Ireland to use with their learners. Participants will present and share the materials they produce.  Detailed and creative feedback and guidance will be provided by the course tutor. 
  • By the end of the course, participants will have a range of materials which they will be ready to exploit with their learners.

Certification details

  • A certificate of attendance (stating course title, location, dates, content, learning outcomes and number of hours) will be provided as required by the Quality standards for courses under Key Action 1
  • Erasmus+ documentation will be validated
  • Teachers will be provided with advice on how to complete their Learning Agreements if requested

    1,447 Euro – Course with 7 nights full board host family accommodation

    1,479 Euro –  Course with 7 nights self-catering accommodation in central university residence

  • Cancellation & changes:

    Full payment will be due 2 months before the course begins, or for teachers awaiting funding: as soon as the grant is received.

    100% refund for cancellations more than 5 weeks before arrival.
    No refund for cancellations within 5 weeks of arrival.
    Changes and substitution of teacher may be possible.

    The options and conditions for change and cancellation, and the policy in case of unforeseen circumstances (force majeure).
