The course "Increasing Mental Health and Well-Being of Learners Through Innovative Practices" is designed to equip educators with the knowledge, tools, and strategies needed to address mental health challenges effectively.

Description

Day 1: The course begins with icebreakers, a lecture on mental health in education, and a workshop on identifying mental health issues. In the afternoon, participants analyze case studies, discuss barriers, and identify current practices in their institutions.

Day 2: The day covers innovative practices like mindfulness and peer mentoring, with a workshop on mindfulness techniques. Participants design routines, share practices from their countries, and reflect on challenges and opportunities.

Day 3: Participants learn to create inclusive environments through a lecture and workshop on peer support programs. The afternoon focuses on role-playing mental health conversations and drafting action plans.

Day 4: The final day includes evaluating mental health programs, creating assessment tools, presenting action plans, and a closing session with reflection, course evaluation, and certification.

Learning objectives

By the end of the course, participants will:

  1. Understand the importance of mental health and well-being in education and its impact on learners' academic and social outcomes.
  2. Recognize early signs of mental health challenges in students and apply appropriate intervention strategies.
  3. Develop and implement innovative practices, including mindfulness and peer support programs, to promote student well-being.
  4. Create inclusive and supportive environments that foster emotional safety and growth for all learners.
  5. Design effective action plans and assessment tools to sustain mental health and well-being initiatives in their educational institutions.

Methodology:
The course uses interactive lectures, workshops, case studies, collaborative activities, role-playing, and reflection sessions to combine theory with practical application.

Assessment:
Participants are assessed through ongoing feedback, action plan presentations, and self-reflection. Certificates of completion are awarded for active participation and successful project submission.

Free trial access to selected mindfulness apps and collaboration tools will be provided during the course, alongside digital templates for classroom use.
