The Fluency and English Language Development is a General English course for those who need to improve on their English. The course is run at all levels from Beginner to Advanced levels and participants are allocated to the group/ class at their respective level of English.
Description
This 1 week intensive course is ideal if you are looking to develop your competence in the English language. The course is specifically designed to promote your participation and interaction so as to improve your fluency and your English communication skills. The sessions are hands-on and will involve discussions about current affairs and topics of general interest using brainstorming, problem solving tasks and role-play in both pair-work and group-work activities. The use of multimedia, the internet and authentic material such as current affairs websites and journals generates stimulating discussions and a professional environment for you to practise and improve your English.
Learning objectives
To further develop participants’ own language skills, with particular focus on fluency in English
To improve language knowledge in grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation
To develop other practical communication skills, such as listening
To exchange pedagogical information & knowledge in a multi-cultural context
To experience the cultural heritage of Malta with its bilingual linguistic environment
Methodology & assessment
Input sessions are in the form of hands-on workshops or discussions for fluency work, and involve brainstorming, analysis, problem-solving, and role play, both in pair-work & group work.
Participants are asked to reflect on the activities, inviting discussion with regard to their own pedagogical knowledge & skills, teaching methods & contexts.
Participants are actively involved in the sessions to maximize their learning and to experience activities from their learners’ point of view.

- The course employs a highly interactive and practical approach. Input sessions involve multimedia
- Prior to course each participant will be provided with a reading list with useful content about the course.
- And participants will be requested to submit the info about their backgrounds and to communicate their exact needs
- A post-course 3 month subscription to our e-Learning online site to further develop their language knowledge and skills.
Certification details
At the end of the course a signed certificate is handed confirming participation on this course and presenting an overview of all modules carried out during the course. Each certificate will also state exact training days and number of hours on which each trainee has participated.
