EXPERIENCE ITALY. Language, Culture, And Food In The Calabria Region
The training offered by JUMP is a unique and innovative experience designed for international guests, teachers, and passionate individuals interested in exploring the richness of Italy. It combines three fundamental "ingredients":
- learning the Italian language;
- improving cooking skills;
- discovering and understanding the local culture of Calabria.
Description
Throughout this immersive program, participants immerse themselves in the local culture and explore the distinctive panorama associated with food production—a captivating and unique experience unlike any other in Italy. In Calabria, food is intricately intertwined with religious traditions, climate, and historical population migrations. As one of the lesser-known and unexplored regions, it exudes a wild charm that invites exploration and discovery.
Our course is a harmonious blend of language acquisition, cultural immersion, and food exploration. Participants engage with other international guests, interact with residents, and enjoy interactive Italian lessons. Cooking sessions foster multicultural language skills, while regional excursions unveil historical sites steeped in Greek and Latin heritage.
This program follows a hybrid format and features a flexible schedule that adapts based on the time of the year. In spring, it celebrates the beauty of the season—moments on the beach, the warmth of the sun, and nature’s vibrant colors and scents. Summer invites participants to savour the diverse flavours of the hot season, autumn and winter focus on wine and olive oil production, set amidst valleys adorned with falling leaves and cooler evenings. Despite winter’s arrival, Calabria’s perpetual greenery ensures a mild climate, perpetuating a summer-like ambiance. This training transcends seasons, leaving participants with the warmth of its people, the allure of its landscapes, and a greater love for the Italian language.

Methodology & assessment
Furthermore, in line with the JUMP Academy method, our courses are based on a strategic balance between formal and non-formal education, indoor and outdoor education and the team takes care of a very important aspect of international mobility which is the intercultural learning which we develop with short excursions and facilitating the interaction with local partners, businesses and citizens of our territory. Each local context has its own economy so it’s always useful, in training programs, to get in contact with concrete examples (experiential learning and real based learning).
We always try to connect our learners to local teachers and students to cooperate in developing innovation and networking for future projects.
