Description

Day 1    

  • Introduction to the course and the concept of outdoor learning
  • Exploration of the natural environment and biodiversity of the region through a guided nature walk
  • Workshop on the principles of sustainability and eco-friendly practices

 

Day 2    

 

  • Visit to a local farm or orchard to learn about organic farming and sustainable agriculture
  • Interactive session on climate change and its impacts on the environment
  • Group discussion and reflection on how to incorporate outdoor learning in educational settings

 

Day 3    

 

  • Excursion to a nearby national park or protected area for a guided hike and exploration of the local flora and fauna
  • Session on the benefits of outdoor learning for personal growth and well-being
  • Group activity on designing and implementing outdoor learning activities for various age groups

 

Day 4   

 

  • Hands-on workshop on outdoor skills such as wilderness survival, orienteering, and camping
  • Interactive session on the role of outdoor education in promoting environmental stewardship and conservation
  • Group discussion on the challenges and opportunities of incorporating outdoor learning in curriculum development

 

Day 5    

 

  • Visit to a local beach or coastal area to explore marine biodiversity and learn about ocean conservation

Day 6    

 

  • Field trip to a nearby historical or cultural site to learn about the local history and heritage

Methodology & assessment

The “Environment and Outdoor Learning” course utilizes a variety of methodologies to engage participants in an immersive and interactive learning experience.


Experiential learning: Participants will have opportunities to learn through hands-on experiences such as guided nature walks, outdoor skills workshops, and visits to local farms and protected areas.



Collaborative learning: Participants will engage in group discussions, activities, and projects to exchange ideas and best practices, and to develop a network of like-minded professionals.


Reflection and self-assessment: Participants will have opportunities to reflect on their learning experiences, identify areas for growth and improvement, and develop action plans for implementing outdoor learning in their educational settings.
