Description
Educational coaching is a professional development approach that involves working with teachers and school leaders to improve their practice and, as a result, improve student learning outcomes. The coach, who is typically an experienced educator themselves, uses a variety of tools and strategies to help the teacher reflect on their practice, set goals, and make changes to improve instruction. Coaching can take many forms, including one-on-one coaching, group coaching, and coaching through professional learning communities. The coach may also provide feedback and support as the teacher implements these changes. This approach is based on the idea that teachers are the most important in-school factor in student learning, and that by improving the quality of instruction, student achievement can be improved. The goal of educational coaching is to support teachers and administrators as they work to improve their skills and knowledge, and to create a culture of continuous improvement.
