Teachers always work with diverse groups and the more they know about differentiating of instructions the more effective their teaching is. The workshop is dedicated to some effective strategies of differentiation of instructions that can serve as an inspiration for teachers and support their everyday teaching practice.

Description

These hands-on workshops explore how to address individual educational needs in diverse classrooms using strategies like Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and differentiated instruction (as defined by Carol Ann Tomlinson). Participants will learn practical ways to integrate these approaches into their daily teaching, gaining skills to support the unique learning needs of all students. The course provides ready-to-use materials to implement differentiation strategies effectively.

Learning objectives

  • Understanding the principles of effective differentiation of instruction and its importance in educational process, 
  • Deeper understanding of the Universal Design for Learning concept,
  • Acquiring practical strategies and methods of differentiation of instructions,
  • Engaging in collaborative activities to create a classroom which gives voice and choice to students,
  • Gaining practical skills to create teaching tools and materials that meet different individual students’ educational needs.

Methodology & assessment

The course combines theory and practice through interactive workshops, group discussions, role-play scenarios, outdoor activities, and collaborative projects. Teaching modes include hands-on activities and reflective group exercises on diversity and inclusion. Participants also work on curriculum integration projects and develop actionable plans for inclusion.
Teaching and learning activities include:
- before the learning experience: carousel brainstorm, concept map, focused freewriting, in a content/in a news, Knowing – Want to know – What have I learnt;
- during the learning experience: question&answer, think-pair-share, group work,
pyramids, demonstration, microteaching, integrating seminar, independent work, project, jigsaw;
- after the learning experience: quiz, concept map, reflective diary, exit ticket.

Self-assessment, peer assessment and co- assessment play important role in the evaluation process.

Materials, digital tools & other learning resources

The course utilizes a range of materials and digital tools, including printed guides, texts, and work cards, as well as interactive resources for diversity and inclusion. Materials worked out under various international didactic projects will be used and presented during the classes (their open-access online repositories form a rich reservoir of educational aids though need some guidance to be used effectively by all teachers in their everyday work).     • The total cost of the seven-day course is €560 (€80 per day). This includes:

      • Tuition fees
      • Course materials
      • One guided city tour
      • Coffee breaks
      • All required documentation

      Additionally, we offer optional cultural trips during the course, which are arranged with a trusted local company. Details and pricing will be available two months before the course begins. 

      The price does not inlcude accommodation and food.

  • Cancellation & changes:

    Cancellations must be communicated via Mail (courses@spatiateacheracademy.eu).

    Enrolled students who cannot take part in the course for any reasons can always be replaced by another participant from the same organization, free of charge.

    If students cancel at least 3 months before the beginning of the course(s), SPATIA will refund the entire amount.

    In case of force majeure the Foundation will offer the possibility to change dates and course to students free of charge.
