Digital Storytelling (DS) is the practice of using computer-based tools to tell stories. This is done with the help of a variety of multimedia, including photos, graphics, comics, audio (sound, speech, music), video, and Web publishing tools. These short, personal multimedia stories can be created everywhere, on any subject, and shared electronically all over the world.

This is done with the help of a variety of multimedia, including photos, graphics, comics, audio (sound, speech, music), video, and Web publishing tools. These short, personal multimedia stories can be created everywhere, on any subject, and shared electronically all over the world.
There are numerous ways that DS can be used. Whether an instructor creates a Digital Story (as a way to present new material) or students do it by themselves: Whenever DS is used at school, it provides a strong foundation in many different types of literacy which often are labeled as “21st Century Skills.” Furthermore it can help to foster critical, interpretive and collaborative thinking and work and enhance students’ learning experience and motivation.

Learning objectives
- The objective of this course is to introduce educators, social workers and representatives of NGOs to DS techniques and how to use them effectively.
- Get familiar with the latest WEB 2.0 & 3.0 tools and expand our knowledge in video- and audio-production.
- Cover the key elements of DS as well as provide hands-on opportunities for the participants to create their own Digital Stories.
- Create their own multimedia learning journal throughout the course.
- Introduction to analog & digital data storytelling / data visualization.
- Use online tools to support and improve innovative teaching and learning methods, in order to motivate and encourage students.
- Use mobile devices as an important tool for teaching and learning activities;
- Explore the “ best of” educational apps, not only in the classroom but also in every school activity;
- Improve social, language and communicative skills;
- Share experiences and ideas with peers from other cultures.

Materials, digital tools & other learning resources
Participants must bring their own laptop or tablet and basic headphones. There will be a course-specific website for the course. Here you will find all teaching materials, digital tools and the practical tasks and exercises for the course participants.
Certification details
80% attendance is mandatory.
The certificate is issued on the last day of the course.

Course package content:
The course fee includes the course. Accommodation, inner-city transportation and meals are not included in the fee. We are happy to provide recommendations for hotels and Airbnb near the course location. A guided city tour is part of the course.

Cancellation & changes:
If the participant cancels the course more than 30 days before the start of the course, all fees will be refunded. If the participant cancels the course between 30 and 7 days before the start of the course, the fee will be refunded in the form of a voucher for future courses. If the participant cancels 7 days before the start of the course, the course fee will not be refunded.
