
COURSE FOR TEACHERS OF ART 1-week course
Built on 40 years’ experience in training European Educators.
Delivered in English by Irish Art educators.
Designed for teachers at primary level (ages 4 to 11) and secondary level (ages 11 to 19).
Description
The course includes:
- Lecture on The Teaching of Art in Irish schools
- Lecture on Irish History, Culture &Traditions
- Workshop: Practical ideas for art lessons including integrating creative digital media into the classroom
- Workshop: Art Projects in and out of the classroom
- Workshop on creative art activities at Dublin City Gallery: The Hugh Lane (Modern Art)
- Guided tour of National Gallery of Ireland (Irish & European Art) & Introduction to the Gallery’s Programme for Schools
- Tour of IMMA (Irish Museum of Modern Art)
- Visits to Chester Beatty (World Art Museum), the Book of Kells at Trinity College Old Library and RHA Gallery (Royal Hibernian Academy – Modern Art)

Learning objectives
The course aims to provide teachers with:
- an insight into Ireland’s artistic heritage
- new inspiration and ideas for teaching art & design
- an insight into the teaching of Art (including Art, Craft & Design and Art History) in Ireland
- an opportunity to exchange good practices, share experiences and develop links with teachers from other European countries

At the end of the course teachers participate in a detailed evaluation of the course
Materials, digital tools & other learning resources
Participants will be provided with physical and digital materials.
Certification details
- A certificate of attendance (stating course, location, dates, content, learning outcomes and number of hours) will be provided as required by the Quality standards for courses under Key Action 1 (learning mobility of individuals)
- Erasmus+ documentation will be validated
- Teachers will be provided with advice on how to complete their Learning Agreements if requested

• 1,447 Euro – Course with 7 nights full board host family accommodation (Single rooms. All meals provided)
• 1,479 Euro - Course with 7 nights self-catering accommodation in central university residence (single ensuite rooms)

Cancellation & changes:
Full payment will be due 2 months before the course begins, or for teachers awaiting funding: as soon as the grant is received.
100% refund for cancellations more than 5 weeks before arrival. No refund for cancellations within 5 weeks of arrival. Changes and substitution of teacher may be possible.
