Learning objectives

Objective:

  • Provide the participants with understanding of competency-based approach and the implications it has for the organisation of day-to-day classroom practice.

Learning outcomes:

  • Participants understand the difference between developing competences and mastering knowledge and skills
  • Participants are aware of the competences required from the modern teacher and know what they personally need to develop to become a better teacher
  • Participants are willing to make changes to their own teaching to make a step towards meeting the requirements of the competence-based approach.

Methodology & assessment

Participants will be invited to switch between the roles of the student and the teacher during the week of the course. The former will help you experience the proposed approach through being in the learners' shoes while the latter will be important for reflection and planning your own teaching.

Course content will be linked to specific context of participants. Everyone will be working on learning materials they will try out with their own learners after the course. The materials will be developed during the week of the course and then tried out in the classroom upon your return.

Formative assessment will be provided throughout the learning journey, starting from online meetings before the course to learning community support after the course.

Materials, digital tools & other learning resources

Participants will be asked to fill out an online questionnaire before the course to ensure the content is tailored to their needs.

Participants will be asked to participate in several online sessions before and after the course.

One of the platforms for collaborative work will be used during the course.
