Teacher education for the green transition and sustainable development

Whatever their subject, all teachers are sustainability educators who can help learners prepare for a more sustainable future, but may need support in implementing ideas.

This report reviews documented research and good practices in effective teacher education for sustainability, both at the pre-service and in-service stages, with the purpose of informing policy decision-making.

It is supplemented by a compilation of case-studies that illustrate successful approaches to sustainability in teacher education over the last 30 years, as well as a policy brief outlining recommendations for policymakers on how to integrate sustainability into teacher training.
