Rural Schools under Focus: case studies on innovative practices

Through the case studies, the report explores the state of play in rural and small-town education. The content is based on surveys and interviews conducted with teachers and school leaders in rural and remote areas and small towns. Four areas are explored:
- Leadership and management in small rural schools,
- Alliances with parents and the local community for innovation in the school system,
- Pedagogical and teaching practices: space and time organisation and classroom management,
- ICT for remote teaching and distance learning.
Following the comparative analysis, the publication identifies a set of challenges and opportunities and puts forward a number of recommendations for policymakers, school leaders and teachers.
