The difficulties and improvements of welfare systems is currently a hot topic in most Northern and Baltic countries. The Welfare System is under pressure from the global competition and the flow of refugees from Africa and the Middle East. The project “Welfare Models - threats and possibilities” is a cooperation between five educational institutions in Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark. By broadening the minds of the pupils, we hope to enable them to give suggestions in order to optimize the welfare model in the participating countries. The project will enhance the pupils’ knowledge of not only the Welfare System in their own country but also the knowledge of the Welfare System in the partner countries. At the end of the project, the pupils will arrange a conference with politicians from all the participating countries. Furthermore, they will publicize a book with their findings.
