An Upside-down Tulip and A Student

Our region is like a natural botanic garden that makes hosting for hundreds of endemic plants. Our flower, called as 'Upside-down Tulip-Fritillaria Imperiaris',is identified with our city,Hakkari. It warms people's inner with its gorgeous orange, red and yellow colours and it becomes the first forerunner of the spring after a long winter. This fragile flower is also called as 'Crying Bride' since it releases its own juice at daytimes after cold and long winter nights. In addition to this,it is also known as the holy flower of Christianity. According to the myth,Upside down tulip was born from the holy tears of Virgiin Mary ,when Jesus was crucified. For this reason,it bows its head and will cry forever.Indeed,it is the flower of grief. Upside-down tulip is distinguished immediately from other tulips with its unique posture.Likewise this delicate flower, our students are unique. Each of them have got authentic features and character. We can see them in different shapes, heights and colours. Moreover,we can see them in different interest areas and learning styles. In this context,as a teacher,we must see ourselves as a tulip growner and we must see each student as unique beings similiar to upside-down tulip.Accordingly,we should imply 'Multiple Intelligence Theory' in our classrooms by giving up classical educational methods. As a result of this, we will discover our students' abilities and creativiness. The students grown in accordance with their abilities, will not only create authentic and innovative products, but also will improve their language skills.Furthermore, when the students come together from different cultures, they will have a chance to share their own history and cultural features. Finally, students who have learnt to admire intercultural differences and similarities, will also make a positive contribution to the world peace in the future.
