Project description

PHYSIS Lab is an alliance committed to sustainable art, bringing together kindergartens on a mission to unite creative forces for artistic expression that respects and promotes sustainability. Through collaborative efforts and a dedication to eco-friendly practices, PHYSIS Lab aims to redefine the boundaries of art while nurturing a deep connection with the environment.

Aims

The goal of the project 'PHYSIS Lab: The Art of Nature' is for students from participating kindergartens to explore and document the natural environment of their country and neighborhood. This eTwinning project seeks to introduce preschoolers from collaborating kindergartens to their local natural surroundings and those of other regions. The objective is to instill an appreciation for natural materials and resources, fostering ecological awareness. Participants utilize a variety of natural materials to collaboratively craft visual artworks infused with gamification elements. This creative process involves missions and specific materials provided by the natural surroundings of each kindergarten.

Pupils will gain competencies in environmental awareness, teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving. They will develop skills in observation, artistic expression, and the effective use of natural materials, while also enhancing their understanding of local ecosystems. This project encourages critical thinking and promotes a connection with nature.

Work process

Through collaborative activities, students will become acquainted with the natural surroundings of different areas, recognizing the value of natural materials and resources while cultivating ecological awareness rooted in a love for nature. Natural materials will serve as objects of observation, research, and study, and will be transformed into artistic works. By using collaboration as a tool and incorporating gamification elements, the creation of these works will involve assignments and materials exchanged between each kindergarten

During the project, the following activities will be planned

  • Introductory meeting with partner kindergartens to discuss goals and expectations.
  • Virtual Presentation for Teachers and Schools
  • Virtual icebreaker activities to introduce students from different schools.
  • Organize field trips for students to explore local natural environments.
  • Have students share observations through drawings, videos or photos.
  • Virtual meeting for teams to discuss findings and share experiences.
  • Teams brainstorm and plan their visual artworks based on their observations.
  • Begin crafting artworks using natural materials collected during field trips.
  • Ongoing collaboration via video calls or messaging platforms to share progress.
  • Organize a virtual exhibition where teams present their artworks to classmates and families.
  • Reflective sessions where students discuss what they learned about nature and teamwork.
  • Feedback and evaluation session with partners to assess the project outcomes.
  • Involvement of Pupils
  • Pupils will be actively involved in all phases, from exploration to creation.
  • They will work in mixed teams to foster collaboration and cultural exchange.
  • Regular check-ins and updates will ensure all students remain engaged.
  • Additional Considerations
  • Incorporate gamification elements into activities to enhance motivation.
  • Utilize digital tools for communication and collaboration (e.g., shared documents, video calls).
  • Encourage families to participate by sharing their own experiences with nature.

Expected results

All actions and activities will be posted in the relevant area and the TwinSpace of the project. Additionally, other technological and digital tools will be used, such as Padlet, the Webex platform, and tools like Canvas. In this way, a digital library of visual art will be created, focusing on creations made from natural materials. Additionally, we aim to improve school practices related to environmental education and foster new knowledge about using natural materials creatively.
