Curriculum integration
Dear teachers,
at the end of the project, we are going to apply for National Quality labels and one of the questions that has to be responded is about curricular integration.
Please write the curricular areas, subjects that are related to this project.
Italy:
The project integrates into the curriculum of English and Civic Education of the 5th year of Upper Secondary School, as it aims at improving and empowering the competence and communication skills and also digital skills.
As for English, by working on the project students have improved and refined their writing, reading and interaction abilities as required by the curriculum.
As far as Civic Education is concerned, the project has focused on one of the main objectives of media literacy: developing critical thinking and fighting disinformation. Further, working in cooperation in transnational teams, students enriched their understanding of the world and of the others and developed cross-curricular competencies, such as teamwork, problem solving, decision making.
Czech Republic:
All project activities were integrated into the school curriculum and were carried out during English lessons. They covered multidisciplinary topics: geography (introduction of must-see places in partner regions), media and civic education (online news, disinformation, fact-checking, debunking fake news, online safety), IT (online tools), English (writing skills: creating articles, reading skills: reading articles by partner students and studying online resources, speaking and listening skills: recording and listening to podcasts; developing vocabulary on online media, sustainability, school and sights of regions).
In the course of the project, the students developed competences such as literacy competence in English: apart from the basic four skills mentioned above, the students searched for information, expressed arguments and thought critically when writing articles and checking online resources. Digital competence: the students became familiar with netiquette and basics of copyright, they used digital tools to compile tasks. Personal competence: the students worked collaboratively in small groups and mixed teams, they learnt to communicate in an international environment.
