SHORT DESCRIPTION

Students will work in mixed nationality groups to create a comic in which they create an alternative ending to Shakesperare´s Romeo and Jullet.

AIMS

The objectives of this project are:

Fostering awareness about differences in schools throughout Europe.

Learning about one of the most famous plays in English literature.

Becoming familiar with the use of different APPs (pixton, canva, padlet, etc)

Showing respect to others´opinions.

Fostering gender equality.

WORK PROCESS

The project should start beginning of February, with a 1st stage that would need to be completed by the end of the month, in this 1st phase, students get to know each other through a who is who game (created on padlet), students are given instructions about the APPs we will use and we establish our first deadline, 2nd week of February, by the end of the month students know each other and have held an online meeting.

They write short texts describing themselves, and their hobbies etc, they say their names in them. They also make short videos introducing themselves and the other nationality students need to match texto and vídeos.

We can organize video calls for them to see each other and start a quick chat.

The 2nd phase would start in March, students are introduced with Shakespeare´s Romeo and Julliet. We as teachers can get them to read summaries of the play in English, so they become familiar with the story. We create groups of mixed nationalities to get them to work. In this phase students need to create a facebook/ instagram. etc, profile of the characters as if they were students in a real contemporary high school. They can create those profiles on canva for example, it can also be a passport format if we see that students struggle.

The 3rd phase would comprise the month of April, given the information they have gathered about different characters they can then create a comic where they adapt the play creating a different ending. In their groups some students can illustrate and others can create the dialogues, (there are apps we can use to work on that).

The different partners involved in the project would need to meet at least twice a month to guide students work.

EXPECTED RESULTS

Our final product would be a comic created on an ICT App. And we would like to upload the work on twinspace.
