Growing Together: from tiny seeds to recipes.

Our project for younger primary pupils, involves children growing and, of course, eating food that they produce. From the end of winter, pupils will begin to observe and record the signs that spring is on its way and start to plan the fruits and vegetables that they would like to grow, as well as preparing the planting areas. These may be small pots or planters, if space is limited, or larger gardens if the school size permits. Once the weather is warm enough, pupils will begin to plant their seeds, observing them over time and recording their plants' progress using a collaborative tool such as Padlet. This can lead to discussions about climate and which plants grow best where and at what point in the year in various countries. Once the plants are ready for harvesting, the children will pick them and use them to create simple recipes, suggested by their partners in other countries in a collaborative recipe book, sharing pictures to the Twinspace.
