A few words about the history of Primary School of Damasi.

The school, according to information from the village elders, was founded in 1865 .

It was founded by the Greek community of Damasi and functioned as a Single Class Community . In 1952, the old faculty was deemed unsuitable for housing because it was in a state of disrepair. Then began the completion of the three rooms on the ground floor of the new classroom where the school was housed that year. Then the manager was N. Karvounis .

During the 1958-59 school year , the entire school was completed and operated until March 2021.

On March 3, 2021, the devastating earthquake in Elassona resulted in irreparable damage to the school in Damasi Tyrnavou. In those days, the director of the Primary School in Damasi Tyrnavou, Grigoris Letsios, was in the center of publicity, as he was the one who, together with the other teachers, managed to get all 63 students out of the collapsing building. September 13 is a big day for Damasi. Just 110 days after the devastating earthquake of March 3 that leveled Damasio Primary School, the state-of-the-art school built in its place is handed over to its 65 students and teachers.

A single moment for the March earthquake to damage it irreparably. But also just 4 months to build a modern faculty in its place. It is the result of the effective mobilization of the State, but also of the valuable assistance of the private sector. In the facilities of the new school, as in every region of our country, the generation that will build the Greece we all want will continue to be educated. The Greece that is changing, that is marching forward and looking up. I welcome students, parents and teachers to the first lessons of the new school year in Damasi.
