Project:  Christmas traditions around the world

Topic:

Christmas traditions around the world

Aim:

This project will help the students to share the traditions of their country with foreign students. Also they will learn about the rules and traditions of other countries. How people celebrate the New Year in different countries of the world.Also pupils will learn new words conected to this holiday.They will also share songs and etc...

Language aims:

To develop speaking skills on the topic of customs for festivals in different cultures and share it with foreign students.To develop vocabulary learning skills.

Time:

Project ends on 27th of December

The goals of the project:

For students to understand that not only in the world, but also in our little Georgia, there are different traditions of celebrating the New Year. to be able to find these traditions. They should also look for pictures depicting these rituals, get multi-hour recordings from different angles, create an album with the obtained pictures, make sketches of different rituals, each class should prepare a presentation and finally put all the data on one site.

Age:

From 6 to 16

Procedure

Month 1

Lead-in and establishing topic

Establish the meanings of custom and  talking about Christmas and New year in different countries which your learners may be familiar with. You can use pictures from the internet to

help you establish which christmas and which customs you are referring to.

Tell your learners that you are going to teach them about Christmas in the UK and other countries then you are going to allow them to write and talk about Christmas and New year they would like.Also students will  share their country costumes to ather students.They will make a presentation.

Month 2

Students will prepare dances and songs for the New Year event. They will also perform traditional dances and songs. They will talk about traditional customs and traditional Georgian dishes.

Month 3

 

As part of the project, students describe the processes taking place in nature, find information from their family about their New Year's and Christmas traditions (how they celebrate the New Year) and share them with each other in the class, select New Year's poems, cut out a Christmas tree, snowflakes, decorate the Christmas tree, the classroom, write a letter to Santa Claus. , which will be placed in the classroom In the existing mailbox, they will talk about their cherished dream, which they long to fulfill in the New Year, they will prepare a discussion topic: "New Year in my Country", the students will introduce each other how they prepare for the New Year, what tradition they have regarding this holiday, who will be the butcher, etc. They will prepare dances and songs. They will take part in the New Year carnival.
