Introduction
This report summarizes the findings of a travel poll conducted among participants. The survey explored travel habits, cultural perspectives, sustainability practices, and learning goals. Responses were collected from a diverse group with representation from multiple countries.
Demographics
- Countries Represented:
- 39% of respondents are from Spain.
- 34% are from Slovenia.
- 27% are from Germany.
- One participant is an Italian living in Spain.
Travel Habits
- Frequency of Travel:
- 41% of participants travel internationally 2-3 times per year.
- 39% travel domestically 2-3 times per year.
- 16% rarely or never travel within their own country.
- Modes of Transportation for International Travel:
- 51% primarily use airplanes, but this is probably because almost 40% of the respondents live on an island and live far away.
- Other modes like trains, buses, and cars are less frequently used.
- Trip Duration:
- 65% take trips lasting 1-2 weeks.
- Fewer participants reported longer trips, such as 2-4 weeks or more than a month.
Purpose of Travel
- Primary Motivations:
- Vacation/Leisure is the dominant purpose (87.5%).
- Education-related trips, such as school trips or exchanges, were cited by 36%.
- Visiting family/friends and cultural exploration were also noted but to a lesser extent.
Sustainability and Environmental Practices
- Importance of Sustainability:
- 54% consider sustainability "very important" while traveling.
- 64% use reusable items (water bottles, bags) and avoid single-use plastics.
- 48% prefer public transportation over taxis or rental cars.
- Waste Disposal Habits:
- 69% make an effort to recycle and dispose of waste responsibly.
- 3% admitted to not prioritizing waste disposal.
Cultural Perspectives and Learning
- Impact on Cultural Understanding:
- 86% reported that traveling improves their understanding of other cultures.
- 71% feel more open to different cultures after traveling.
- Traveling helps participants appreciate their own culture (24%) and develop new perspectives.

Participants shared predictions and hopes for how travel might evolve:
