INCLUD-ED Dialogic Gatherings

DG has been identified as one of the Successful Educational Actions in the INCLUD-ED Project (FP6) for its proven capacity to improve learning and emotional self-regulation, as well as the overall school climate.
The number of people, duration and frequency of the gatherings depend on the circumstances of the group. Before the gathering, the group agrees on the best universal work to be discussed, and then the work is made available to everyone. Participants prepare in advance by selecting an aspect (a part, a colour, a character, or a passage) of the work that has caught their attention. They can then share it with the group and explain the reason for their choice.
The moderator, who is equal in status to everyone, ensures that the participants engage in an egalitarian dialogue respecting the opinions of others. Everyone has a turn to contribute. Priority is placed on those who are less active or who experience more difficulties so that participation is as egalitarian and diversified as possible.
