Empowering families: the Pedagogy of Parents Methodology

The methodology has been implemented in schools since 1995, and facilitates collaboration between active parents and teachers through ‘narrative groups’, where they share educational experiences.
This method has gained national and international recognition by contributing to the training of professionals such as teachers, doctors, judges and social workers.
Key principles of the methodology emphasise the family as an essential and irreplaceable component of education. The methodology recognises parents as educational experts through:
- collecting and publishing parents’ educational narratives,
- training professionals in human relations,
- presenting scientific principles through research and seminars.
The Pedagogy of Parents focuses on:
- responsibility: families are accountable for their children’s education,
- identity: parental love fosters self-awareness in children,
- hope: parents’ hope shapes their children’s life projects,
- trust: family trust nurtures a child’s potential,
- growth: parents witness and support their children’s development.
This methodology promotes an educational pact among schools, families and health services by recognising and utilising parents’ skills to foster a holistic educational environment.
