The Child Friendly Spaces in Humanitarian Spaces Toolkit
Child Friendly Spaces (CFS) are used by humanitarian agencies to increase children’s access to safe environments and promote their psychosocial well-being. Some CFS programmes may focus on informal education or other needs related to children, but the aim of all CFS programmes is to provide a relaxed and fun environment for children.

The CFS Toolkit provides a set of materials to assist managers and facilitators in setting up and implementing quality CFS. The core principles are protecting children from harm, promoting psychosocial well-being, and the engaging of community and caregiver capacities.
The Toolkit for Child Friendly Spaces in Humanitarian Settings includes:
- Activity Catalogue
- Operational Guidance
- Training for Implementers
- Child- Friendly Activity Cards (for use in confinement situations during COVID-19).
The toolkit was designed to address shortcomings in quality in CFS.
