New Digital Opportunity Traineeships for Vocational Education and Training

Digital technologies are changing many aspects of how we work and learn. They are powerful tools for the green transition, by decarbonising energy, transport, construction, agriculture and all other industries.
This is why the Erasmus+ programme has introduced the Digital Opportunity Traineeships in VET. With a very broad scope, they offer VET learners, apprentices and recent graduates a way to expand their digital skills and knowledge.
What could be included?
Any Erasmus+ VET learner mobility will be considered a “Digital Opportunity Traineeship” when one or more of the following activities are practised by the trainee:
- digital marketing (e.g., social media management, Web analytics);
- digital design;
- development of apps, software, scripts or websites;
- installation, maintenance and management of IT systems and networks;
- cybersecurity;
- data analytics, mining and visualisation;
- programming and training of robots and artificial intelligence applications.
Generic customer support, order fulfilment, data entry or office tasks are not considered in this category.
One example of a digital traineeship could be a mobility activity to an automotive company where an automation technician has an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the design and installation of hardware and software used in the production of cars or car components, as well as complex ICT solutions for traffic management, safety of vehicles, and autonomous driving.
How to get started
VET providers, companies, learners and apprentices are encouraged to make the most of this opportunity.
Extensive information on Erasmus+ mobility are available in the 2021 Erasmus+ Programme Guide, and the Erasmus+ National Agencies are available to provide information and support to applicants.
